35 保罗说了这话，就拿起饼来，在众人面前感谢上帝，然后擘开来吃。36 于是大家都安心吃饭了。37 我们在船上的共有二百七十六人，38 大家吃饱了，把麦子拋在海里，好减轻船的负荷。
35 After he said this, he took some bread and gave thanks to God in front of them all. Then he broke it and began to eat. 36 They were all encouraged and ate some food themselves.37 Altogether there were 276 of us on board. 38 When they had eaten as much as they wanted, they lightened the ship by throwing the grain into the sea.
At last, Paul’s words got them moving. They would not have done this unless Paul’s authority had prevailed more with them now than before. The recorded number of people also makes the miracle more remarkable, since in human terms it would be impossible for 276 people to escape shipwreck without loss of life. But as all unbelievers are unstable, that persuasion soon vanished from their minds.
