33 我从来没有贪图任何人的金银或衣服。34 我这两只手，供应了我和同伴的需要，这是你们自己知道的。35 我凡事以身作则，你们必须照样辛劳，扶助软弱的人，并且记念主耶稣的话：‘施比受更为有福。’”
33 I have not coveted anyone’s silver or gold or clothing. 34 You yourselves know that these hands of mine have supplied my own needs and the needs of my companions. 35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”
Paul was repeating the general teaching about contempt of money, and it is a sure sign of this when someone is more inclined to give than to take.
Good and faithful stewards of God are those who share with their brothers some of the riches they have received. Christ’s disciples must therefore consider all the more carefully what happiness comes from not seeking other people’s things and getting used to giving.
