徒 Acts 18:8-11
8 Crispus, the synagogue leader, and his entire household believed in the Lord; and many of the Corinthians who heard Paul believed and were baptized. 9 One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision: “Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent. 10 For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city.” 11 So Paul stayed in Corinth for a year and a half, teaching them the word of God.
The two phrases “I am with you” and “no one is going to attack and harm you” are linked together. Sometimes God helps us and yet it looks as if he is letting us be overwhelmed. But he did not forsake Paul even when in the midst of death. Here he promised his special protection to preserve Paul from the violence of his enemies. These words do not mean that Paul would be free from violence and uproar—the Jews made a deadly attack on him immediately afterwards. The words meant that such attempts would be frustrated because the Lord had decided to deliver him out of their hands. We must fight boldly so that we may win the victory.
