徒 Acts 15:15-18
15 The words of the prophets are in agreement with this, as it is written: 16 “‘After this
I will return and rebuild David’s fallen tent. Its ruins I will rebuild, and I will restore it, 17 that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord, even all the Gentiles who bear my name, says the Lord, who does these things’18 things known from long ago.
WE now see how the apostles took nothing upon themselves imperiously but reverently followed what was prescribed in the Word of God. They did not think it a disgrace to learn from Scripture. We must also note here that the teaching of the prophets is still in force, though some foolish people would ban them from the church. This passage also teaches that the true and proper constitution of the church is when the throne of David is raised high and Christ alone is preeminent, so that all may unite in obeying him. Christ reigns by the doctrine of his Gospel alone, and the right state of the church is when every single one of us obeys Christ, the King of kings, that there may be one sheepfold and one Shepherd.
