徒 Acts 15:12-14
12 The whole assembly became silent as they listened to Barnabas and Paul telling about the signs and wonders God had done among the Gentiles through them. 13 When they finished, James spoke up. “Brothers,” he said, “listen to me. 14 Simon has described to us how God first intervened to choose a people for his name from the Gentiles.
We see from this verse that they regarded James highly, for when he confirmed what Peter had said, they all agreed.
James’s speech consisted of two main parts. First, he confirmed the call of the Gentiles by the testimony of the prophet Amos; second, he showed what is the best thing to do to nourish peace and concord among the faithful while allowing the Gentiles continued freedom and not obscuring Christ’s grace.
